what you publish.
Ampersand is a local-first editor — nothing leaves your machine unless you choose to publish a note to a shareable web link. When you do, that page is hosted by us and visible to anyone with the link, so a short set of rules applies.

What publishing does
Ampersand Pro can “publish” a single note to a secret link on ampersand.page. The page is a self-contained snapshot of that one note — no scripts, no trackers — served to anyone who has the link. Publishing is entirely your choice, one note at a time, and nothing else in your vault is ever uploaded. This policy governs that published content.
Content you may not publish
You are responsible for everything you publish, and you must have the right to share it. Do not use Ampersand publishing to host, link to, or distribute content that:
- Is illegal or promotes illegal activity, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which we report to the authorities without exception.
- Infringes others' rights — copyright, trademark, trade secrets, or privacy — or that you do not otherwise have permission to share.
- Is malware or phishing — malicious downloads, deceptive pages that impersonate another service, or content designed to steal credentials or defraud.
- Harasses, threatens, or incites violence against people, or targets a person or group with hateful content.
- Doxxes or exposes private information about someone without their consent.
- Is spam — bulk, automated, or SEO-manipulating content — or that exists mainly to game search or advertising.
- Sexually exploits or endangers minors in any way.
Reporting abuse
If a published page violates this policy, report it to abuse@getampersand.app. Every published page also carries a Report abuse link in its footer that opens the same address. Please include the full share URL and a short description of the problem. We review reports promptly and take action on content that breaks these rules.
A published page can be restricted behind a password or a list of email addresses. That changes nothing here: send us the share URL and we can review and remove it whether or not you were able to open it. Restricting a page does not put it beyond this policy, and we do not require a reporter to have access in order to act on a report.
Enforcement and takedowns
We may remove any published page, at our discretion and without prior notice, if we believe it violates this policy or the law, or if we are required to by a valid legal request. Because publishing is a Pro feature tied to a license, repeated or serious violations may also result in losing access to publishing.
Taking a page down is never gated: whatever the state of your license, you can always unpublish your own notes from the app, and a removed page returns a friendly “not found” to anyone who still has the link. Removing a page deletes the stored copy; we keep only minimal records needed to handle abuse and comply with the law.
Copyright & DMCA
We respect intellectual-property rights. If you believe a published page infringes your copyright, send a notice to abuse@getampersand.app with the subject line “DMCA”. A complete notice should include: identification of the copyrighted work; the exact share URL of the infringing page; your contact information; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf; and your physical or electronic signature. We remove content in response to valid notices and, where appropriate, honor counter-notices.
Privacy of published links
A published link contains a long, random identifier, so it is unguessable and is not kept out of search engines. Treat the link as the key to the page: anyone you share it with, and anyone they forward it to, can read the note. As with any web request, the link may appear in standard server access logs (for example, our hosting provider's request logs) used to operate and protect the service. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the date at the top of this page. Continuing to publish content after an update means you accept the revised policy.
